LD 2 ULD Containers | DPE Containers | DPN Containers
LD 2 Air Cargo Containers are one of the most frequently used ULD containers in the airline and small parcel industries. The LD 2 fits a large number of planes including but not limited to Boeing widebodies, such as a B-767 and B-777.
The half-width, lower hold container with one angled side is one of the most widely used ULD containers in the global marketplace. Granger's durable, hybrid LD 2 containers feature a single piece polymer shell that drastically reduced maintenance because of the containers robust rotational moulding construction. With a reduced number of parts and fasteners, it allows for operations efficiencies to be increased while reducing parts inventory and unnecessary maintenance. Touting lighter tare weights than many other standard containers, the LD 2 container can also provide fuel burn savings in comparison to many other air cargo containers.
When it comes to operations efficiencies there is no statement more true than "time is money". Increase operations efficiencies with custom color ULD containers from Granger Aerospace. Granger's LD 2 is offered in both DPE and DPN configurations, while offering industry leading features such as lighter tare weights hybrid Air Cargo Containers in the marketplace, offering reduced maintenance, lighter tare weight which equate to reduced fuel consumption and less carbon credits, where applicable. These features coupled with color coded single piece polymer body shells make for easy identification of your ULD containers in a busy operations setting. A reduced number of parts and fasteners allow for reduced spare parts inventories and faster airworthiness checks.
Rotomoulding is a plastics production process that manufactures a wide variety of products for a plethora of industries. While commonly associated with simple products such as playground equipment, toys and laundry carts. Rotational Molding is one of the more recently developed plastics manufacturing processes, getting its start with hollow medical products in the 1950's. Since the development of the roto-molding process numerous innovations have contributed to the improvement of the industry. Many molders specialize in proprietary products such as trash cans, toys, laundry carts or others, some molders such as Granger Plastics Company place their focus on high quality custom rotational molding. Granger's commitment to high quality rotational molding is demonstrated by its TSO C90d certification from the FAA. Granger Plastics Company is the only rotomoulding company in the world to hold a FAA issued TSO C90d.
The rotomolding process produces extremely rugged and long lasting parts. They can survive elements, environments and abuse many other polymer based products can't. The parts are so durable because of the nature of the process. A mold is loaded with a polymer based material, typically polyethylene or polypropylene and sent into a PLC controlled oven where the mold rotates bi-axially for a set period of time. Once the mold completes the predetermined cook cycle, it will enter the pre-cool station, where it begins cooling with either ambient air, fans or a mixture of both, all while continuing to rotate. As the mold is cooled, the material begins to set up and become rigid. The mold will continue to a cooling chamber where it is cooled by fans, water or a combination of both, bringing the mold down to a servicable temperature, where the mold can be opened up, the product removed, the mold re-loaded and the process to start all over again.
Granger Plastics Company is the only rotational molding company in the world with a true commitment to the Aerospace industry, by obtaining a FAA issued TSO C90d certificate of quality for ULD manufacturing. Granger's quality driven focus on rotomoulding is the core quality that clients reference when asked why they selected Granger as their Aerospace Rotational Molding Supplier.
